Celebrating Ahri : A beautiful Rainbow Baby

Beautiful baby Ahri!

Lashes for days! Nearly 11 weeks old thanks to the COVID19 waiting game, but we still went for the newborn session, capturing a beautiful mix of happy awake and peaceful sleepy images (which I did have to work for haha)

Ahri made her entrance into the world around 5 weeks early but her session was planned long before this momentous occasion.

When Bridgette first booked her newborn session with me, she let me know that her beautiful baby on the way was a special rainbow baby.

A rainbow baby "is a baby born after a miscarriage, stillborn, or neonatal death," We call this baby a rainbow baby because it’s like a rainbow after a storm. Something incredibly beautiful after a dark experience.

We talked about how she would like to commemorate this emotional journey and together we chose this gorgeous soft toned rainbow

Bridgette was keen to promote awareness of a common condition that Ahri was born with. Ahri was born with a cleft lip and palate, which affects approximately 1 in 700 babies in Australia. Arhi will need at least 3 surgeries, the first one in the next couple of months to repair her lip, and then again when she is bigger between 9 and 18 months to repair her palate and another for a bone graft when she is between 5-8 years old. It felt very long awaited to meet her and I’m so thrilled that we were still able to, despite having to wait out lockdown <3 For more information see http://cleftconnect.org.au/
